High Pressure ASME Air Vessel
This custom-built horizontal dual chamber hydro pneumatic vessel was fabricated for a client in the aerospace industry; an unconventional design that Steel Structures was not afraid to pursue. All work was completed at our state of the art facility, expertly utilizing various fabrication techniques.
The raw A516-70 carbon steel was sheared, formed, and then welded. After passing a Hydro-test to verify that it would withstand the design requirements of 200 to 500 psi, the tank’s interior surface was prepped with a near white metal sandblasting. It was then coated with slate gray macropoxy 646. The exterior was prepped with commercial sandblast and coated with the same slate gray macropoxy 646.
The finished vessel had an inner diameter of 36”, a height of 53.5”, and held 250 gallons. The turnaround time for this project was 8 weeks. Although the design was unique, it was built according to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 specifications, with rigorous quality controls and testing completed to assure performance.
